To help engineers simplify the IoT system development process, ON Semiconductor has developed its modular, configurable IoT Development Kit (IDK) using its technology, intellectual property and product expertise. IDK is a modular and scalable platform that uniquely integrates different technologies to create ready-to-use solutions that combine sensing, communications, driving, power management and processing, reducing the management and complexity of multiple vendors The risks of policy changes, combined with support for hardware, software, and a variety of different protocols, provide sample code that can be used for many use cases. ON Semiconductor also offers a range of expansion boards that designers can extend the configuration to meet the needs of applications to evaluate, develop and introduce highly differentiated IoT systems in the shortest possible time for a wide range of industries including environmental monitoring , Healthcare, home / building automation, industrial control and wearable electronics.



IDK's boards feature the company's state-of-the-art NCS36510 System-on-Chip (SoC), with a 32-bit ARM® Cortex®-M3 core optimized for low power consumption, running the ARM mbed ™ operating system. By connecting different daughter boards to IDK boards with Wi-Fi capability and using the company's ultra-low power radios (SIGFOX, Thread, EnOcean, Wireless Mbus, Bluetooth Low Energy, ZigBee, PoE, CAN, etc.) , The system can support a wide range of connectivity protocols, sensors (temperature, humidity, ambient light, proximity and pressure, and heart rate monitoring and biosensor interfaces) and actuators (with step and brushless motor drives and the ability to drive LED strings) . In addition, the product portfolio includes support for many different security features, including encryption, reliable commissioning, secure boot and validation.


On the software side, the Eclipse-based Integrated Development Environment (IDE) includes the C ++ compiler, debugger, and code editor. Complete application examples, use cases, and related libraries are also included in the suite to support IoT design from the initial concept phase to full deployment. In addition to the default cloud software platform, support for industry standard cloud connectivity protocols (MQTT and REST) also allows the use of other widely available IoT cloud service providers.
